Graph of visits per day to the EU Watch web siteThe HA EU Watch website is now into its second year.

Over the last year EU Watch has reported the latest developments in Galileo, ITS Standards, European ITS Research and EC Policy. The topics that the EU Watch team has monitored were diverse and included areas such as tracking cyclists in the Tour de France, 3G mobile communications, vehicle emissions standards and EPOSS R&D Initiative.

EU Watch has attended several conferences on behalf of the HA, starting with the Nav ’05 conference on 1st November 2005. This conference focussed on satellite positioning technology issues with particular interest being paid to the developments in Galileo. The full set of conferences reported in the past year is:

  • Nav ’05 – November 2005
  • European Roundtable on Intelligent Roads – January 2006
  • eSafety Forum 5th Plenary meeting – May 2006
  • ITS – European and UK initiatives – July 2006
  • CVIS – October 2006
  • eSafety Forum 6th Plenary meeting – November 2006

During the year the EU Watch website has seen the average number of visitors per day rise from under 10 in December 2005 and January 2006 to a peak of over 50 during the summer of 2006. Current visitor numbers are currently stabilising in the region of 40 visits per day.

During 2006 the HA EU Watch Project prepared Fact Sheets providing a few pages of more detailed information on specific ITS topics identified by the HA. To date these have included eCall, Standards and Datex II. In the New Year we will be publishing further Fact Sheets on topical issues, so watch this space.

Thank you all for continuing to support the website and the HA EU Watch project.
